Re: Eclair Cameras: ACL 1.5 motor vs. 2 motor
Sometimes when I put a mag on the camera....I inch the knob and it 'clicks',
telling me that the claws are in a happy place. After that, everything runs
smoothly, until I put another mag on the camera. Then I go throught the
process again. Often, I go 'round once or so with no 'click' which tells me
that the claws were happy in the first place.
The only time my camera's run poorly is when somebody else loaded it (OK, or
when I just started loading it, before I figured out just how many perfs to
leave in the loop) and leave a short loop. After the inching knob syncing
process, it either runs fine or it doesn't. Maybe you're saying the same
thing and I'm speaking Martian today, which isn't out of the realm of
possibility!!

I suppose that when I am inching the knob, it allows (as you say) the
claws to find the sprocket holes, thus eliminating the noise I would
have otherwise heard had I not inched it properly. In other words,
maybe when the sprocket holes are engaged correctly that is when I hear
the least noise coming from my camera.
Anyway, I've run a lot of film through my camera, and I haven't had any
problems with it. I'll be sending it off to get overhauled in the near
future anyway.
Thanks
