Beaulieu R16

French-made lightweight 16mm reflex news/documentary camera from the 1960s, marketed as "the world's lightest" 16mm camera. Reflex viewfinder via a mirror on the reciprocating shutter, plus a built-in behind-the-lens CdS light meter visible in the viewfinder. Less expensive but also less rugged/quiet than contemporaries like the Arri 16BL or Eclair NPR.

• Shutter: reflex mirror at 45°, reciprocating (not spinning)
• Speed: 2–64 fps, transistor-regulated electric motor; separate 24/25 fps sync range
• Lens mount: C-mount (rotating 3-lens turret or fixed zoom mount)
• Sync: Synchro-pilot alternator for external tape recorder sync
• Magazine/reel: 200 ft reel-to-reel (R16-ES); some variants smaller
