The Flange focal depth should be set to the Film plane.It may be adjusted to account for the use of a behind the lens filter. This moves the distance back 1/3 the thickness of the filter. So if you plan on using a behind the lens gel filter, have the flange set for using a filter, and ALWAYS use a gel filter, even a clear.
Then you will not have flange focal distance problems.

Hi everyone,
I have a question:
When the ACL shipped from the factory was the flange focal depth set for
the behind the lens filter holder or for the film gate itself?
Secondly, if the flange focal depth is set for the film gate itself
could you still use behind the lens filters on lenses greater than 12mm
(since depth of focus is not as shallow with longer lenses)?
