If you mean an aperture that would shoot an image into both the "standard
academy" picture area and also into the sound track area in 35mm so that you end
up with one big square and no space left over, (and a very narrow frameline),
that would require a "Full Silent" aperture. It was the original aperture
used in silent films before sound came along. An old Mitchell 35mm would
probably have such a gate installed. Mark.
