The cheapest way to get a totally flicker free video assist would be to use an Angenieux zoom with the built - in viewfinder , the type that was used on non reflex cameras .
There's only about 1/2 a stop loss on film (from memory , but then a lot of you seem hell bent on losing as much light as possible (ref . 144° shutter ) to cover up a non existent problem , on a properly converted & set up camera , anyway !
