For those who want to scratch test.  I use unexposed film in hundred foot loads and inpect it with either a linen tester loupe at 10x or you can use an old lens off of a 16 mm projector or for that matter any cmount 50mm.  Look through the front and it magnifies the film surface so you can see any minor defect in the surface.

Schepperstop´s technigque is great  I use a similar approach but visually inspect the film without processing.

Here is the procedure of doing a scratch test. Run some new film throughthe camera and stop the running before the end of the roll.
