I always wondered if conversely the 16mm lenses, like the Schneider 35mm,
are sharper for shooting 35mm ?

You might want to do a test on those. 35 mm lenses do not resolve as
sharply  as lenses designed for 16mm. It does not mean you can't or
shouldn't use them, it just means that you might need to shoot at a higher
f-stop to make them sharper.
