making titles with slides as background, plus other optical effect uses...

We used to create footage from slides this way quite successfully.  We didn't have a Duplikin, we made our own rig using a title stand, extension tubes, and the lens mount from an old theater projector that had EW/NS adjustments.  We made a slide mount for this, which allowed us to precisely position the portion of the slide we wanted to use.
