Eclair Cameras: Video assist

Hi,
i have found a guy who can build the videoassit mechanical part.
I´ll be putting a beam splitter 50% beteween the body and the viewfinder.
I wonder if this will cause focus problems.
Also would like to know what is the best kind of camera (and lens) for video.
