I'd say generally that I have to agree with the 'go
with what you've got' school... I shot two music
videos a couple of years back with vision 100T using a
Bolex H16 in reg 16mm, composing for 16:9, and the
results (supervised telecine) were plenty good enough
for the intended output (TV and DVD).

BUT, if you are looking to future-proof your work, go
for the biggest neg you can afford!

The above probably doesn't help much...
