The ACL latch wasn't a great design, and both the ACL 1 lock and the ACL II cover weren't 100% effective. There is also speculation that holding the camera by the carrying handle would make things worse, since the block that the handle attaches to is itself a part of the latch assembly.

My recommendation is to place a tiny wooden wedge made from part of a clothespin in between the top of the mag and the release latch itself. There is a discussion of this at <A HREF="www.members.aol.com/Super16ACL/misc.htm">www.members.aol.com/Super16ACL/misc.htm.</A> While I've seen more extensive gizmos jurry-rigged on top of the mag to rotate a wedge into place, it's probably easier just to attach a few inches of nylon fishing wire to one end of the wedge with a washer and screw, and the other end of the wire into the plastic top cover of the ACL, so that the wedge is always hanging there for action.
