RE: Eclair ACL ACL and Sony DAT

Hello!

Did the later model D8 and D100 have this problem too? I've been having a lot of transport problems with my D7 too, although it's like new and has seen very little use. I'm wary of investing in anothe DAT recorder and may just go with MD for the future.

I'd rather not comment on the sync issue.
However, there is a guideline regarding the mic preamp of the D7.
It has a quirk which results in overloading if you record over -12 dB.
The voltages in the preamp circuit are not high enough to provide complete
dynamic range.
This does not occur if you use an external mic preamp with the line input. Allow only brief peaks into the -12dB area, or use a SBM-1 adaptor, which
has an excellent mic preamp.
